Kerry Murphy. Who is SHE?
SHE is a Passionate Planner. As the Executive Director of Artisphere since 2007, Kerry is responsible for all facets of the annual, three-day event that brings over 80,000 people to Downtown Greenville to explore and enjoy visual and performing arts. Kerry is the embodiment of Artisphere’s commitment to celebrating the arts and this area’s rich international and multicultural flair by providing a high-quality event that attracts, entertains, educates, inspires, and enriches a diverse audience and thus brings the community together through the arts. Artisphere celebrated twelve years in 2016, and has been ranked one of the top ten art festivals in the country since 2009.
Kerry’s career in Special Events started shortly after grad school when she started working as an event manager for Greenville Events. From there, she went on to become the Director of Premium Seating and Corporate Partnerships at the BI-LO Center (now Bon Secours Wellness Arena). Kerry’s ten year career in non-profit arts administration began in 2006 with a position as the Executive Director of Carolina Ballet Theatre, Greenville’s premier professional resident dance company. Now in her tenth year working in non-profit arts administration, Kerry absolutely loves what she does and finds the field challenging, rewarding, and fun.
SHE is an Ambassador of the Arts. Kerry recently participated in a video conference event hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and Sister Cities International. Attendees included entrepreneurs, artists, designers and students. Kerry, along with Alan Ethridge (Executive Director, Metropolitan Arts Council) spoke with arts leaders in Kortrijk, Belgium and shared information about Greenville’s cultural offerings.
Earlier this year Kerry had the opportunity to speak at the SC Festival and Events Association Conference to share insight about Artisphere’s behind-the-scenes processes and the visual artist jury review. Opportunities such this, that allow her to represent Greenville, and more specifically the arts in Greenville, are always an honor. People are amazed at the depth and diversity of our cultural offerings in this City – it truly is astounding.
SHE is a Savvy Supporter. Ever involved in Greenville’s creative community, Kerry likes to support other artists and arts organizations by going to exhibit openings, theatre performances, and live music shows. She encourages everyone to seek out local artists, patronize community theatres, and frequent music venues. Greenville has an amazing community of talented artists here and Kerry loves to show her support and appreciation for what each one adds to Greenville’s quality of life. She is honored to work in this industry alongside people that do amazing things to make our community such a special place.
SHE is a Cultured Coordinator. SHE is Kerry Murphy!
